🚀 Mission Statement: The H.E.S. Library Media Center serves as the heart of our school, nurturing a deep love for reading through immersive, sensory-rich storytelling and personalized book discovery. We empower students by blending community literacy events with hands-on exploration in STEAM, chess, art, and essential technology skills such as coding, while cultivating critical thinking and problem-solving in a welcoming environment.
- 📚 Book Circulation Policy: Students may check out up to three books for a two-week duration.
- 🔄 Book Renewals: To extend a reading window, books can be renewed for an additional two weeks by bringing them back to the library for a quick rescan.
- 🎉 School-Wide Literacy Events: We host a variety of exciting celebrations throughout the year to foster a community of reading, including The Book Fair, Read-A-Thon, Read Across America, and inspiring Author Visits.
- 💻 Alabama Virtual Library (AVL): Explore a premium collection of free educational resources, research databases, and learning tools.
- 🔍 Online Public Access Catalog (OPAC): Click our catalog link to search for books by keyword, title, author, subject, or series. Select "Details" to read book summaries and find call numbers.
- 📖 eBook Access: Use our catalog to read from our eBook collection. Click on "Media," select "eBooks," and search for your title. Click on the second red title to open and read your eBook instantly.
